Systems Administrator | The University of Texas System- Midland, Texas

Job Details:
Purpose of Position
Troubleshoot and maintain the infrastructure that provides the platform for the data systems of the University Lands department.
Essential Function
Monitor servers, storage and networking equipment performance and stability.
Monitor data backups and replication for business continuity and disaster recovery.
Assist Infrastructure Manager with system deployments and infrastructure upgrades.
Provide Tier 2 support to help desk and users.
Special Projects including hardware and software research, evaluation and "proof of concept" for future implementations.
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Associates degree in relevant field of study + 4 years’ experience. Each additional year of experience over the required minimum may substitute for one year of college (30 semester houses) on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of TCP/IP switched Ethernet infrastructure, including subnet masks, Cisco, Force10 and DELL switch configuration a plus.
In depth knowledge of network monitoring tools.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and professional courteous attitude is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study + 2 years’ experience or 6+ years’ experience in IT Support and/or Windows Server Administration.

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
