Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining, updating, and expanding IHS' model base, analysis and contribution to market reports, preparation and assistance with world analyses, and long-term project work. This role will promote an understanding of IHS' forecasting methodology as well as foster learning and growth across an array of associated product areas. This analyst will focus on the chlor-alkali & related markets.
Specific job duties include:
*.Econometrics – Maintain, update, and coordinate modifications and improvements.
*.Trade – Maintain and convert all data and lead improvement process; Update & balance trade grids.
*.Supply/Demand – Build long forms; balance short forms and quarterlies as necessary.
*.Implement improvements to models, publishing processes, and new company-wide tools by using and developing macros.
Report Responsibilities
*.Research, market analysis and limited writing for monthly publications.
*.Write and/or contribute to sections of reports.
*.Proof read monthly reports for better understanding and market exposure.
*.Update Prices, graphs, and text accordingly and help with output as needed.
World Analyses
*.Build and develop any tools that are needed (balances, snapshots, charts, graphs, etc).
*.Prepare sections, assist with balances, and provide analysis.
*.Coordinate the balancing efforts within the product group to make sure deadlines are met.
Project Work
*.Involvement with long-term projects (Cost studies, econometrics, trade, Supply/Demand) as needed.
COMPETENCIES:
*.Bachelor's Degree in a technical field required, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry preferred or Economics.
*.Minimum of 2 years of experience required. 2-5 years of chemical industry experience would be a plus.
Other important skills include:
*.Proficient with Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Suite (Excel “power user” preferred); ability to write and debug macros.
*.Excellent communication skills.
*.Analytical interpretative skills, i.e. Critical thinking.
