Description of duties:
The purpose of the post is to manage and provide assistance in content analysis and web production work and to refresh the design and content of emergency web pages to help maintain and improve the editorial quality, consistency of style and presentation of WHO emergency websites and web pages, as well as other related corporate products.
The role will also include extensive interaction with focal points across the Organization, including regional and country offices. This position liaises with others in the Department to ensure the editorial quality of all emergency communications products.
Assigned Duties:
- Editorial : Edit emergency communications products to ensure they adhere to house style; Manage and produce updated emergency pages based on current communications priorities and strategies, including the WHO emergency home pages and websites.
- Content Management: To ensure the emergency health topics pages, fact sheets, Q&A's, infographics, videos, digital web products, photo and feature stories respond to users' needs, particularly by ensuring they have the latest and most pertinent content and aligning content with most regularly search terms used and ensuring regional offices are informed of changes;
- To provide ongoing support and feedback to ensure that emergency sites contain relevant, well- structured and clear information and follow WHO web policy and general good web practice.
- To ensure emergency content is updated in a timely manner in particular to make sure the content is ready on time to meet upcoming emergency committees/ major events/ or questions from the pubic.
- To provide Web managers with feedback on the overall content management situation of WHO emergency sites to avoid duplication and identify synergies. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: A first university degree in information management, communications or other closely related discipline.

Skills:
Technical Expertise in emergency web structure. Proven ability to research, write and edit for the web under emergency and pressures inherent in urgent response. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work across technical areas and clusters required in complex emergency and humanitarian events. Proven and extensive skill in explaining technical matters and limitations of technology to clients without backgrounds in IT ; Ability to manage client expectations.
Other Skills (IT):
